CARE FOR YOUR SCOOTER
IMPORTANT: You MUST have the first maintenance performed at 300 miles. Failure to do so will void your warranty and may greatly reduce the life of your scooter.
The price for this service is about $125 for air-cooled scooters and about $160 for water-cooled scooters.
Break in period:
-
DO NOT ride with a passenger until after the first service. Doing so can damage your engine and will void your warranty.
-
DO NOT ride full open for extended periods. Doing so can permanently damage your engine and will void your warranty.
-
With all models you should take it easy on the throttle.
-
Avoid full throttle rides until after the first service.
-
Always allow your scooter or motorcycle to warm up to operating temp before riding off. Usually 1 minute of warm up is plenty.
-
Riding faster than manufacturer recommended speed can cause your scooter / motorcycle to stall, overheat or worse. Our mechanics can determine if a bike has been abused.
-
Engines 250cc and up HIGHWAY riding is not recommended for the first 300 – 500 miles.
-
Be sure to get a bike big enough for the traffic and roads you will be traveling.
-
With 150cc engines try to stay under 50 mph. Do not ride full open for extended periods.
Servicing your new Scooter or Motorcycle:
(Approximately every 1000 miles or 2-3 months, whichever comes first)
First oil change (four stroke 10W40 motorcycle engine oil) and first service is at 300 miles.
Second oil change should be at 1000 miles. Subsequent oil changes are every 1000 miles.
You may void your warranty if you self-service incorrectly or have service performed by anyone other than Scooter Revolution. Please check with Scooter Revolution for other service options.
Scooters and motorcycles need to be ridden often or will encounter the effects of neglect. This may include (but is not limited to): clogged carburetor and failing battery.
Warranties only include manufacture mechanical defects and do not include “wear-and-tear” items such as brakes, tires, bulbs, belts, and fluids.
You are responsible for inspecting your scooter or motorcycle prior to every ride.
Park in a secure area, secure your scooter, and cover your scooter.
IF YOUR SCOOTER OR MOTORCYCLE WON’T START:
-
Turn Key to “On” or “circle” position. Visually verify this position. The gas gauge will move when the scooter is turned on.
-
Turn kill switch to “on” or circle position. Visually verify this position.
-
On some models you will need to make sure that the side kick stand is in the UP position.
-
Squeeze (and hold) the left brake lever. This is a safety feature. The engine will not start without holding the brake.
-
If kick starting, place on center stand first.
While scooters may seem “simpler” than cars, they require care just like any motor vehicle. Please note the following:
-
It is not unusual for a scooter to need minor adjustments or fixes in the first month. Please have realistic expectations and realize we are here to help with any issues that may arise.
-
You must perform all scheduled maintenance on time, every time, or you will void your warranty and may damage your scooter. The oil change schedule is listed on this sheet. Additional scheduled maintenance is outlined in your owner's manual.
-
While Scooter Revolution does everything we can to keep you on the road, we do not provide any “loss of use” compensation. We do not provide loaner scooters while your scooter is in for service.
-
Do not overfill your oil. Doing so will damage your engine. Any resulting service work will not be covered by the warranty.
-
Scooter Revolution strongly encourages you to take the MSF safety class and wear a helmet, jacket, and other protective gear at all times. Riding a motorscooter or motorcycle is very dangerous and involves the risk of serious injury and/or death and/or property damage.
