What really makes a lot of "similar" scooters different is quality control and customer support. Many scooters come from the same factories and are branded with an American company's name. This means the scooters are basically the same. The American companies might even say their scooters are "American made" because final (minor) assembly happens here. Naturally, the companies have to make the buyer THINK that there is something different or special about their scooter. They say things like, "DON'T BE FOOLED BY IMITATORS. Ask if it's a REAL (OURBRANDNAME)." OF COURSE another company's identical scooters aren't OURBRANDNAME. They're THEOTHERBRANDNAME. It doesn't necessarily mean they're any better or worse. Do you ask AquafinaTM if it's authentic DasaniTM? Here is the best part: Some companies like to trademark terms for features that the other (identical) scooters probably have anyway. They might say something like, "Only we offer the SmoothMaticTM automatic transmission". ALL the identical (other "brand") scooters offer the same thing, but they are NOT called "SmoothMaticTM". I was thinking about what "special features" (names) we might use if we were to start following the questionable lead of some scooter companies. I hope you enjoy the following tongue-in-cheek list of "features". Sometimes these abandoned customers come to us and we help them get parts their dealer won't give them (but it's not easy and can take a long time).
